May the Summer Come Quickly

Mid May and another rainy day…as some might say. Quick update though as its been a while. The highlights of the last few months have to be shoots with Michael, Palin, Leigh Francis and Gennaro Cortaldo. Obviously that’s 3 different shoots. They weren’t all in the same room! Gennaro is not only is a genius in the kitchen but he treated us to his own verdure soup and made sure we all went away with something. True Italian hospitality. Meraviglioso! We very much enjoyed working with new client Book Aid and produced a film to be shown at Pen Ukraine’s International Book Festival. A very worthwhile cause indeed. Other great shoots included filming with the lovely Alison Steadman, down at the Mithraeum museum with Conn Iggulden and Taskmaster’s hilarious own Ivo Graham. Well, a quick update was what was promised, and now I think… delivered!

12 Years and Counting!

Almost December and this is the first time this year since Easter that I have had time to update the site with what has been going on with Bubble Head Media. It was full steam ahead this year after a few Covid years of stop-start but everything was back to 2019 and those lockdown years seem a long distance memory. An absolutely cracking year. We were very lucky to get a call back to do another shoot with Alan Partridge after the hilarious one earlier in the year. Very, very funny and a total professional. I was also lucky enough to do not 1 but 2 shoots with Judi Dench who was absolutely as charming as everyone always says.

So many shoots this year with the likes of Shirley Ballas, Phil Tufnell, the lovely Nadiya Hussain and another standout shoot came in the guise of the irrepressible Miriam Margoyles who was a pleasure to work with and caused uproar at Waterstones in Piccadilly.

We also worked a lot with new client Castle Entertainment this year (they just released a wonderful film on Sky Arts ‘Decoding Turner’ and have been busy of late creating a sizzle with Pattie Boyd after a fantastic interview at her home….AND she even made us soup!

Catch up Easter 2023

Well, I can’t believe it’s been so long since the last catch up. It has been the busiest 6 months since before all the Covid lockdowns so there’s a bit of an excuse (but not much of one!) We’ve working on some truly brilliant projects as we’re often lucky enough to have. The funniest shoot by far was spending the day with Steve Coogan who spent the whole day as the best comic creation of our age ‘Alan Partridge’. Sublime and crackling with hidden depths, as funny now as when he first emerged. We have been working with new clients such as Castle Entertainment on various projects, as well as the lovely Little Brown company with Kim Sherwood and Aoife Fitzpatrick. Other standout shoots included the wonderful chef that is Michel Roux, action authors Tim Weaver and Gregg Hurwitz as well as taking a lovely trip to Norfolk to film Anna Keay. Going back to January we filmed The Reverend Richard Coles, Sarah Beeny and just before Christmas we had fun shoots with Peter Andre and tik-tok sensation Sam Way. Just a few of the great shoots that we’ve been involved with over the last few months in our 12th year of existence. They went fast!

Next Stop Christmas 2022

It’s been once again a hectic few months and a busier summer than normal so hopefully the ghost of Covid has gone for good. The stand-out highlight has to be a tie between continuing to work with Rylan (we had a hilarious shoot with Rylan and a very big book in Brentford) - click here and a trip up to Liverpool with Liverpool FC captain Jordan Henderson (and as well as being a great chap he kindly gave us tickets to see the Ajax game in which Liverpool won 2-1 right at the death!) Check out that one here. Other fun highlights have included shoots with the legend that is James Haskell, a day out in Surrey’s finest with the lovely Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick and the wonderful actor David Harewood. David treated us to a ring side view of his incredible acting talents as he read through his book ‘Maybe I Don’t Belong Here’ which I can heartily recommend! Here’s a link to him talking about why the book, now. Hats off to James Acaster who was hilarious and to everyone else that we have filmed with over the past few months, it has been brilliant fun!

The Big Easter Catch Up

As soon as Covid restrictions started being lifted we got very busy and the last 8 months has been a bit of blur to say the least. Easter is fast approaching so here’s one big catch up to let you know about some of the shoots we have done at BubbleHead Media lately. This is actually our 11th year of trading and it’s been another great one so far. One of the standout highlights has been definitely been filming and working with ‘Rylan Clark’. Not only is he very funny but exceptionally professional and an absolute delight to work with…. when work is not really work. We have worked with many authors as well as our corporate clients and other standout highlights include the lovely ‘Lucey Foley’ (I’m currently reading her latest book ‘ The Paris Apartment’ - I loved the ‘The Hunting Party’ and am already totally absorbed in this one!) Who else? Ah yes ‘Charmaine Wilkerson’ was brilliant to work with (watch out for ‘Black Cake’), as was new official James Bond author ‘Kim Sherwood’, the enigmatic and English treasure ‘Ellie Goulding’ and Cornish literati ‘Patrick Gale’. Oh and how could we forget, one of the warmest authors ever, ‘Marion Keyes’! Up-and -comers AF Steadman and Moses McKenzie (who I met up with in his native Bristol) are ones to look out for and deserve great success. These are just some of the highlights in a very hectic 2022.

The Inimitable Raymond Blanc

We caught up with the wonderful Raymond Blanc at the end of the summer to film him promoting his new recipe book ‘Simply Raymond’. Passionate, charismatic and still producing wonderful recipes, it’s no wonder his name is synonymous with the very best in cuisine. Legend1

Back Up and Running, Hello Ross Edgley

The first half of 2021 has been a little unusual compared to previous years. We are proud to be trading in our 10th year and have been busy editing and started working with some new clients such as the high end Spanish restaurant group Arros QD. It was interesting trialling zoom videos recordings this year and one highlight was the wonderful Hilary Mckay (recently winning the Costa Children’s Book Award) amongst many others. The quality of the footage was obviously a bit limited but it didn’t impact on the quality of the words being spoken. One of our first forays into the real world though, after lockdown was lifted came in the form of shooting Ross Edgley. To say Ross is a big character is very much understating it. Ross is a winner in every sense of the word, joyous, enthusiastic and as a fitness expert (he’s swam around Britain for starters) is totally bombastic. He has a new book about how to achieve greatness and would recommend it if you’re serious about big achievements! Other shoot highlights at early doors included the lovely Courtney Black and we returned to the excellent innovative Bristol’s Skin Clinic. Oh and we also enjoyed sticking this one together about the governments response to the Covid outbreak with Harper Collins about the book ‘Failures of State’. A lot of discussion from both sides!

Mark Wright Photoshoot

Just before Christmas we had fun, meeting up with Mark Wright (who had brought along Arg for a bit of extra fun) and filmed behind the scenes at his latest shoot.More information to follow…

Tom Karen the Genius Inventor

All hail Tom Karen, the incredible nonagenarian still tinkering away brilliantly in his studio. Not only did Tom invent the seminal bike ‘The Chopper’ but also the ‘Bond Bug’ , ‘Popemobile’ and a lot more besides. We took a couple of trips up to Cambridge to meet the great man and talk about his lifelong obsession with design and the years at Ogle. A really lovely gent to boot.

Bristol Skin Clinic Coming Soon

Spending the day with the Bristol Skin Clinic guys was a great pleasure. Georgia is a brilliant presenter and the new treatments coming soon at BSC look amazing … just hope we get out of lockdown soon to enjoy them!

Philippa Gregory Reveals All

We caught up with Philippa Gregory along The Thames path as she revealed details about her latest book ‘Dark Tides’. Twisty, tantalising tales from The Thames of 1670 indeed!

There's Only One Piers!

Wake Up says Piers Morgan with his latest book. In it he discusses whether the left wing have ceded some of the ground such as free speech to the right and other issues. Powerful stuff!

The Names Bond, Sam Bond

Otherwise none as Moneypenny from the Pierce Brosnan James Bond days, we caught up with Samantha Bond in the studio who was busy doing the audio for the ‘Windsor knot’ audiobook. What a legend!

Gotta Laugh with Louis Theroux

Although we are in lockdown, that doesn’t stop us on the editing front and what a hoot it was to put this together of Louis Theroux reviewing Amazon reviews of his book. A very funny idea and carried off with panache from a national treasure in the making. You can see it here .

Its Only Andy "My Precious' Serkis!

Not only has Andy Serkis played one of the cinema’s most iconic characters ‘Gollum’ in the Lord of the Rings but he has also played King Kong and Caesar in Planet of the Apes amongst many other accolades. In short his motion capture work is second to none on the planet. In shorter, he is a living legend! With lockdown restrictions starting to ease I headed into a studio in Queens Park to find out more and to film Andy in interview and reading through some truly memorable scenes in ‘The Hobbit’, a book that he recently narrated over 12 hours for charity and for obvious reasons is very close to his heart.

Lockdown Editing

Because we had already done over 30 shoots in 2020 we have been finishing up on the editing over the lockdown period. Highlights have included videos for Ross Edgley, David Badulcci, Anna Jones, Piers Morgan, James Holland, Grace Dent, Andrea Corr and many others.

Also we have found the time to put together a new showreel to show off a few highlights over the past 9 years.

Check it out here.

Vinnie

Not long before lockdown, I drove very fast (but not too fast) to London as I didn’t want to keep Vinnie Jones waiting. He asked me if I’d come on a motorbike (my hair’s getting a bit out of control) . The shoot went well and I think I escaped with a relatively small amount of teasing from Vinnie.

(A)ndrea Corr to Ha(z)el Gaynor in 2 Days

One of the best shoots I’ve ever been involved with and I’ve done quite a few in Dublin over the years. This year we managed to shoot Andrea Corr, Eoin Colfer, Ciara Geraghty, Cecilia Ahern, Hazel Gaynor, Jane Powers and Carmel Harrington over 2 days as well as cut behind the scenes footage at the beach at Clontarf, Vernon Woods and around Clontarf Castle Hotel. The weather was amazing for February. Lucky us!

Thankyou Dublin.
